Yona Marie Interview and her new single “I’m Still Loyal”

Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.

Hey, thanks for the opportunity! My name is Yona Marie.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

My family and their rich musical talents rubbed off on me as a I grew up around them, especially in the church environment.

Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

My new single “I’m Still Loyal” is a dedication to those who have provided their friends, family members, or romantic partners with unyielding love and loyalty over time. I created an anthem that anyone that has given or received authentic love will be able to relate to and remind themselves of how much a blessing having a loyal person in your corner can be.

What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?

I think my versatility among many subgenres that incorporates soul is something that helps me stand out. I do jazz, pop, EDM, trap, neo soul, gospel, and even Classical.

Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

I’m heavily influenced by India Arie, Lucky Daye, and H.E.R at the moment, but I’m so inspired by literally thousands of musicians across almost every genre there is. I love everything about music.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

I’m most proud currently of being able to put all of my musical experiences and knowledge into one place on my Website where I plan to help thousands of people gain advice to help further their music career.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

Terribly at the moment, I’m all over the place! But I’m a work in progress and I’m slowly learning time management skills as I continue down the path!

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

My main advice is to stay true to you are and what you want to do with your art, because when you have that unfiltered vision, you can create your most inspiring work.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

My main message to my fans is that I’m currently working on some magic that is about to blow yall’s mind!

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

I’m working on several different projects right now in the music arena including a few jingle deals and a collaboration with PBS on one of their upcoming Sound field music series episodes.
