Unexpected Places You Can Find Famous Musicians

It’s always fun to spot celebrities cropping up outside of their comfort zone, whether that’s serious actors like Tom Cruise in bizarre cameos as in Tropic Thunder, or Queen Elizabeth II with James Bond at the Olympics.

More than other celebrities though, the free and artistic nature of musicians can see them appearing in all kinds of unexpected places. Here are a few of the best examples of famous musicians that you can find where you least expect them.

In TV Shows and Movies

While the golden era of every actor and actress also being a top singing talent is long behind us, finding famous musical faces in Hollywood media is surprisingly common. In many cases, the artist is such an icon that they already extend beyond their music, like David Bowie in Zoolander or Ozzy Osbourne in Little Nicky, both appearances coming out of nowhere at the time.

Some feel even more bizarre though, and some shows just seem to drag in the musicians for reasons unexplained. How I Met Your Mother manages to get a whopping five artists on the show, including Katy Perry, Enrique Iglesias, Nicole Scherzinger, Carrie Underwood and even Jennifer Lopez. They can’t all be great moments though; Ed Sheeran on Game of Thrones is definitely an example there.

In Casino Games

This is a category where the deeper you dig, the more names you find. Particularly amongst older rock and metal acts, the number of performers who have some kind of casino game to their name is staggering. Just to list a few, Megadeth, Guns N’ Roses, Jimi Hendrix and KISS have all made ventures into the slot business. There are often licensed songs behind them too, so it’s a legit approved project in each case.

Then we come to the bizarre case of Electric Six and their Danger! High Voltage slot, named after the band’s most famous track. The game, accompanied by the full song playing behind it, has been popular enough to spread around the world, especially across the water to the UK. The song found surprising success in the British Isles, even more so than domestically, and the slot itself is also a surprising success there, considering it’s a country where playing online bingo on sites like MrQ is a popular pastime.

In Bizarre Products

We all know that celebrities in general put their names to unusual products, but musicians seem to do it best. Comedy rockers Tenacious D have their own line of fiber bars on the market, Eminem sold bricks from his mother’s house, and Rolling Stones bassist Gary Wyman even has his own signature metal detector available. The KISS Kasket takes the prize though, as fans can go to their eternal rest in a luxury coffin adorned with Gene Simmons’s face.

While every one of the examples in this article is unusual in its own right, we would think it takes an especially dedicated fan to go for this one. Such as Dimebag Darrell, apparently.
