Sharon Stone “honoured” to be officially cast in ‘Euphoria’ season three

Sharon Stone has said she is “honoured” to be officially cast in Euphoria season three.
Late last month, rumours began to emerge that the Basic Instinct star was in talks to join the cast alongside the likes of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer.
Following the official confirmation on Thursday (February 27), the veteran American actress and film producer said in a statement: “There is little more exciting than going to work with this team of thrilling talent.
“From the genius of Sam Levinson to the raw sophistication of this profoundly moving cast and tight crew. I am honoured to be Euphoric.”
While details about her character have so far been kept under wraps, she did reveal to Harper’s Bazaar that she knew what she was doing within the show, adding: “Can you believe it? I’ve been keeping this a secret for years. For years!”
Elsewhere in the interview she said of the hit teen drama: “If you look at Euphoria, for example, it’s very noir.”
Famed for its gritty depiction of drug abuse, sex and broken families, NME wrote of the show’s second season: “With a clutch of new episodes that are darker, tougher and more intense than ever, it’s well worth the wait. It’s teen subjects might start the new year off on a negative note, but it’s already setting the bar very high for TV in 2022.”

New additions to its cast, which so far have included Stone, Grammy-winning pop artist Rosalía and 2014 Super Bowl winner Marshawn Lynch, have followed the exit of several actors from the project. These include Storm Reid, who played Rue’s younger sister in the series, and Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, who left in 2022.
Other notable names who won’t be returning for the third instalment include Nika King, who played Rue’s mother Leslie, Austin Abrams, who starred as Kat’s (Ferreira) boyfriend Ethan, and Algee Smith, who portrayed Cassie’s (Sweeney) ex-boyfriend McKay.
The last casting news comes after HBO‘s executive vice president and Head of Drama Francesca Orsi hinted that season three would likely mark the end of the hit teen drama series.
In a recent chat with Deadline Hollywood, she noted that the door’s still being left open for a potential continuation, but that season three is expected to be Euphoria‘s last: “We’ve talked about it, I don’t think anything is over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end.”
Little is known of season three, except that “a time jump” will be involved, and that it will consist of eight episodes, which are due to arrive in 2026. It is also currently unclear how Euphoria‘s third season will deal with storylines surrounding actor Angus Cloud, who died in August 2023.
The new cast update comes after it was revealed that production on the long-delayed series had finally begun, offering a first look at Zendaya’s Rue.
