Scott the Pisces shares on his creative tastes, music influences and new song “SUMMER ‘22” ft. Binx

Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.

Hi Xttrawave, thank you for having me! I’m Scott the Pisces, a British pop producer and songwriter from the UK! I’m excited to be on the platform today talking about my new single Summer ‘22!

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

From a young age I’ve always been captivated by melodies and the way music would take you on a journey. I’d spend hours sitting in front of a speaker just listening to the waves of sound, analyzing the elements of the songs. I always felt drawn to music, first picking up a guitar at the age of 8 – I knew I wanted to create my own expressions.

Tell us about your new single! What’s the story behind Summer ‘22?

“Summer ’22” is the work of two independent artists attempting to create this year’s summer anthem. Despite being produced, recorded, and mixed remotely from our bedrooms, the song has a pristine pop quality expected of a hit. We wanted to create something that completely captivates everything that we felt we had lost over the last few years and put it into a song. In a way you could call it an act of manifestation for this summer. BINX and I wrote the concept over a record I had produced last year.

What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?

I would describe my sound as a mixture of all the music I loved growing up. There’s no definitive ‘sound’ that I’m going for, I just love making what feels right to me while in the moment! There will always be that key pop element to everything I make, as I truly believe in creating an experience which ‘hooks’ the listener, grounding them within the song.

Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

Growing up listening to literally every genre on the planet, I’ve taken influence from everywhere. I’d say my earliest influences were Kanye West, Dr Dre and Scott Storch in terms of production. They always knew how to create a ‘feeling’ in their music. With Dre’s pristine quality of mixes, and Kanye’s creative direction I held them in super high regard. With my modern take on pop music, I look to producers and songwriters such as Max Martin & Benny Blanco. I believe these guys have cracked the formula and so I’ve watched them closely, listened to all their interviews to gain any secrets I could find!

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

Honestly just starting my career up again under the new name. Previously I had gained over a million streams under the alias ‘Spectrum’, and so switching to Scott the Pisces and starting from scratch felt daunting. I’m super happy that things have worked out well, this fresh page in my career has allowed me to pick a new direction for myself. I’ve been doing everything on my own, from the music aspect, to media and promotions of myself. I even create my own lyric videos and artworks. I find that doing things yourself lets you get the exact result you’re looking for based upon your vision. It does take its toll though as it’s a LOT of work.

How do you balance your music with other obligations?

In all honesty I’ve never quite found the balance between music and my social life. I truly believe in myself and this career as my path in life; there’s so many occasions I’ve turned down situations to focus on getting ahead in music. While at this point in my career, I have to do everything myself, I know that one day I’ll be able to spend more of my time elsewhere, likely just on bigger projects though!

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

If you’re a fan of me, you probably know how hard I work to get things to pan out. You’ve been supporting me the whole way and I truly appreciate it! If I could ask you anything, it would be to share the music with your friends, that’s what it’s all about for me. Helping create experiences and moments through the songs I write.
