‘Pittsburgh Pop’ is reimagined with new single from Nick Barilla featuring rapper My Favorite Color

In anticipation of his new album, ‘Silence all the noise’ Singer-Songwriter Nick Barilla wants his music to be an uplifting sound for people’s ears in an otherwise noisy and sometimes negative world. That is why he teamed up with fellow Pittsburgh native and rapper My Favorite Color (Rostrum Records) for his latest single, ‘Forever’. Featuring a catchy hook and ear candy throughout, this Pop song is filled with good vibes and memorable melodies.

Barilla started recording music from home when the pandemic began in 2020 as he faced uncertainty with his career. The result? Nine unique songs filling out what will be his fourth studio album since 2014. The song ‘Forever’ was written in Garage Band during a snowstorm in early 2021, and from the beginning, he knew he wanted a rapper to be featured on this song. After reaching out to several rappers, things finally came to fruition when My Favorite Color agreed to be a part of the record. “I saw him rapping on Instagram one day and figured I’d reach out to see if he was interested in working together.” Said Barilla, “His style of rap was everything I envisioned for this song and I was so happy that he was able to bring it to life”. Initially Barilla wanted a rap solo over the bridge, but MFC suggested that he take the verse, which ultimately solidified what the song would come to be.

Although Nick recorded most single from his home studio, he also worked with long time friend and producer Daniel Blake (The Schoolhouse Studio) for electric guitar, drums, bass, and mixing/mastering on ‘Forever’. All-in-all, the single is a love song about the freedom of being yourself after finding that special someone.
