DASH-2

Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.

Thanks for having me. I’m a 23 year old Hiphop/R&B artist out of Canada. I go by DASH. I remember downloading “What a time to be alive” by drake and future & seeing a track called “Digital Dash”. The name caught my attention for some reason & I ended up dropping the digital & going with DASH.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

Music has always been a HUGE part of my life ever since I was a kid. My mother always had Arabic music playing in the house growing up and my older brother was obsessed with Tupac & biggie so I naturally fell in love with the whole lifestyle & dreamed of being able to perform in front of massive crowds. As a kid I would write lyrics and create songs that I would perform in front of friends and family. I always enjoyed being creative & entertaining people & seeing their reactions. That eventually turned to me teaching myself how to produce which lead to me composing my own songs from scratch from the lyrics & beats to mixing/mastering & cover art.

Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?

The new music I’m coming out with for 2021 is going to be very diverse. I’m not focusing on one specific sound but instead I’m trying to create music that sounds /feels good & will resonate and connect with all types of people & lifestyles. I intend on releasing one song a month for the whole year.

What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?

Growing up I was influenced by all kinds of genres and music. I was around lots of Arabic, hip hop, reggae, rnb so I feel like it’s a combination of all of that into one with my own touch & sauce to it.

Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

My favourite artist of all time would be Tupac but I love all of the late 80s & 90s era of music. I essential grew up listening to the hiphop, reggae & r&b of that time the most so I’m a very old soul. I joke about being born in the wrong generation sometimes. It would be an honour to collab with Drake, The Weeknd or Tory lanez.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

I remember creating a EDM song when I was 16 and remember being snuck in by the owner of a local club & the DJ because they liked the track so much and wanted me to watch it being played live. I think that moment & being so young watching a crowd vibe & dance to this track this kid made in his parents apartment was a crazy moment to me. It really motivate me and inspired me to keep pushing and really believe in myself and manifest this dream into a reality

DASH-4

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

No matter how hectic my day is I try to make sure I get at least a an hour two at the end of every night. I’ll get my work and all my responsibilities handled and out the way then I go and work on my craft. If I miss a day I double up the workload the next time I go into the studio.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

Always believe in yourself, don’t sell yourself short. Strangers can be your biggest fans while those who you expect to support you the most usually never do so don’t expect feedback or love from those closest to you & always remember you really can manifest anything you want in this life you just have to put the work in at the same time

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Thank you for for supporting in any way shape or form I appreciate it beyond words. I’m happy I can make music I love and speak my mind while connecting with all of your on a personal level and relating to all of you

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

I have singles dropping all year stay tuned
