Liam Gallagher says Edinburgh council’s attitude “fucking stinks” after comments about Oasis fans

Liam Gallagher has said Edinburgh council’s attitude “fucking stinks” after their reported remarks about the profile of Oasis fans.
The band are set to play three shows at the city’s Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9 and 12 as part of their historic reunion tour, with a total of 210,000 fans having bought tickets to the concerts.
The Scottish Sun has said it has seen safety briefing documents ahead of the shows in which the council describe Oasis fans as “rowdy”, “middle-aged men” who are likely to drink to “medium to high intoxication”.
The band’s frontman did not take kindly to the report, taking to X on Sunday (June 15) to write: “To the Edinburgh council I’ve heard what you said about OASIS fans and quite frankly your attitude fucking stinks.”

“I’d leave town that day if I was any of you lot,” he added.
In a subsequent post, he continued: “I’d love to see a picture of all the people on the Edinburgh council, bet there’s some real STUNING [sic] individuals.”

The report stated that there was concern from authorities that the gigs would pose a risk to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which runs in the city from August 1 to 25 and is expected to attract three million fans.
The briefing is also said to state: “Middle-aged men take up more room. Consider this when working out capacity.”
With their first reunion shows now less than three weeks away, the members of the band have been spending time locked away in a rehearsal studio in London for hours at a time to prepare for the giant stadium gigs.
The opening date is on July 4 in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, the first of 19 shows in the UK and Ireland with support acts Richard Ashcroft and Cast, including seven at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Liam recently reflected on the “wasted years” that have taken place since the band’s 2009 split. Responding to a fan who asked how the rehearsals have felt, he said: “You know what it’s spiritual but I can’t help think about all those wasted years what a waste of PRECIOUS time”.
Noel Gallagher is said to be “shocked” how good the band are sounding in the rehearsals, according to Bono.
As revealed by NME in March, the dates will see Noel and Liam joined by guitarists Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs and Gem Archer as well as bassist Andy Bell – all longtime Oasis members.
On drums will be Joey Waronker, who has never played with Oasis before but did play on the tour supporting Liam and John Squire’s collaborative album last year. He has worked with the likes of Beck, R.E.M., Elliott Smith and Roger Waters, as well as being a member of Thom Yorke‘s Atoms For Peace band.
