Karol G and Shakira’s “TQG”: An Anthem for Anyone Who’s Moved On and Become Stronger

The song “TQG” by Karol G and Shakira tells a story of a past relationship where the male partner moved on to a new girlfriend but still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend. The lyrics emphasize that the ex-girlfriend is not interested in rekindling the relationship because she has moved on and has become a stronger and more successful person.
The intro by Karol G sets the tone for the song by saying that someone who says that filling a void with another person is lying. She compares it to covering up a wound with makeup, where it may not be visible but can still be felt. She also mentions that her ex-boyfriend left her, claiming to have moved on and found a new girlfriend, but she knows that he still keeps tabs on her.
The chorus by Karol G calls out her ex-boyfriend for trying to come back to her after moving on to a new girlfriend. She reminds him that she doesn’t repeat her mistakes and tells him to tell his new girlfriend that she doesn’t compete for men. She also points out that she had him when he was at his best.
Shakira’s first verse talks about how seeing her ex-boyfriend with his new girlfriend hurt her initially, but she has moved on and forgotten about their past. She also says that her ex-boyfriend is offended that she has moved on and that her life has improved without him. She also mentions that she saw what his new girlfriend said about her and finds it amusing.
The second verse by Karol G and Shakira mentions how they have changed and are focused on making money and being successful. They also mention that the ex-boyfriend wants to come back to them, but they are not interested because he left them for someone else. They also point out that he can’t handle their newfound success and that he is too small for them.
In the third verse, Shakira and Karol G mention that they have become better and stronger since their breakups. They also mention that their ex-boyfriends are trying to come back to them by liking their pictures on social media. They also say that their ex-boyfriends are happy with their new lives, but if their new girlfriends knew that they still try to contact them, they wouldn’t be.
The outro by Karol G and Shakira mentions their hometowns, which is a nod to their Latin roots. The line “TQM, pero TQG” means “I love you very much, but I love myself more.” It’s a powerful statement that emphasizes the importance of self-love and putting oneself first. Overall, the song is a message of empowerment and self-love, telling listeners that they don’t have to settle for someone who left them for someone else and that they can become stronger and more successful on their own.
