‘Inside No. 9’s ‘Stage/Fright’ show will tour the UK later this year

Cult comedy series Inside No. 9 will be taking its theatre show, titled Stage/Fright, on a nationwide tour from September to November 2025.
Running from 2014 until last June, Inside Number 9 was a dark comedy anthology series from Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, two of the creatives behind The League Of Gentleman. Containing dark, self-contained stories, there were nine series and 55 episodes in total. It won BAFTA TV Awards in 2019 and 2021.
Following the show’s end, the duo created Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright, a theatre show that played in Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End from January 16 to April 5. The success has prompted the production to embark on a nationwide UK tour.
A press release read: “Following a sold-out West End season, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith are taking the critically acclaimed Inside No.9 Stage / Fright, to theatres around the UK this autumn. Stage / Fright features comedic, spooky and dramatic moments as fans of the TV show have come to expect, with some familiar characters and stories mixing with brand new material”.
The performances in London featured celebrity guest “hostages” on stage with Pemberton and Shearsmith. The West End run included names like Stephen Fry, Mel Giedroyc, and Lenny Henry. The tradition will continue with the regional shows as well.
Tickets for the 12-week tour go on sale at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 2, available here.
In the release, Pemberton and Shearsmith said: “We have been bowled over by the success of Inside No 9 Stage / Fright at the Wyndham’s Theatre. Selling out every performance before the run started and being nominated for an Olivier Award was fantastic enough, but the nightly reaction from fans and newcomers alike has been exhilarating and really quite moving”.
They continued: “We are delighted to be able to bring the show to a wider audience around the country. The phrase ‘swan-song’ refers to a final performance, often associated with the ancient belief that swans sing beautifully just before their death. Which is a load of bollocks of course as all swans do is shit and honk. So come along to the swan-song tour of Inside No 9 and see for yourselves how we bow out. There won’t be a dry seat in the house”.
