Benson Boone has followed up his much talked-about Coachella 2025 set by announcing his upcoming new album ‘American Heart’.

Over the weekend, he made his debut at the California festival, which saw sets from the likes of Lady GagaPost MaloneTravis ScottMissy ElliottCharli XCXMegan Thee Stallion and more, with Boone’s performance featuring his signature backflips and a surprise appearance from the Queen legend during his cover of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Following the performance, in which he announced his sophomore album ‘American Heart’ by performing the titled track, he shared the cover art on social media.

Now, per a press release, ‘American Heart’ is confirmed to be released on June 20 via Night Street Records/Warner Records – and that his February single ‘Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else’ is the first look at the album.

It also revealed that Boone is set to perform on Saturday Night Live on May 3, which will be hosted by Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson.

The response from the crowd during the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ cover was lukewarm, generating controversy online and a cheeky TikTok video from Boone, who wrote: “Me trying to get the crowd at Coachella to understand what an absolute legend Brian May is and the cultural impact he has on music and THE WORLD.”

Fans have speculated that the May collaboration at Coachella came in response to recent comparisons to Freddie Mercury, given Boone’s flamboyant performances often employ his signature call and response, and his outfits often appear inspired by him.

Before joining him onstage, May, who recovered from a stroke last year, had teased the big moment on social media, sharing an image of the two together on a plane. “Look who I bumped into – on the way to the fabled Palm Springs … 💥💥💥💥 Maybe something will happen?!” he captioned the post, before saying Boone “will shake the world” with his show.

Last month, Boone opened up about his Mormon childhood, stating that it made him feel “confused and frustrated”.

Mark Zuckerberg had also previously shared footage of him dressing up as Boone for his wife’s 40th birthday, in which the Meta tycoon borrowed Boone’s blue jumpsuit to perform at the birthday party for his wife, Dr Priscilla Chan.

Footage from the event showed Zuckerberg dramatically taking off his formal wear to reveal the jumpsuit, much like Boone did performing ‘Beautiful Things’ at the Grammys. Boone also previously apologised for a viral moment from the Grammys in which he “aggressively” grabbed his crotch.
