Banjiboi-2

Banjiboi, a rumored relative of the notorious Jesse James and descendent of Tex “Gold-Fingers” Calloway, a successful gold panner during the California gold rush, took a different trail to establishing himself as a household name during a time when social media and digital streaming started to change the ways of the wild and lawless West and the landscape of music forever.

In his youth, Banjiboi grew fond of the Vinyl beats and cutting edge rhymes of early hip hop pioneers such as run DMC, Beastie Boys, and LL cool J. As the young Banjiboi turned teenager, his interests shifted to 6 string pickin’ in the midst of the grunge and metal era. Playing shows at countless saloons and brothels in various metal bands, the most well known being “Dangerous Willie”, Banjiboi and his fellow cowboys achieved local success winning band competitions, such as the showdown at the Club Laga Corrall, and opening for various national acts, including Clutch and the Reverend Horton Heat. Later, the young Banjiboi would join 2 female pioneers to form the trio, Anavey, who brought a fresh fusion of cello, gypsy jazz, and trip hop to small river towns seeking new forms of entertainment.

Following these years, Banjiboi became somewhat of a recluse, and retreated to the hills of southern Pennsylvania, taking only his dog, one guitar, a set of decks and a MacBook to focus soley on living of the land while making dope beats and bangers in his bedroom under the moniker, Aro.

Until the year 2021, the lands now ravished by a worldwide plague, political polarization causing mass chaos, and the Tiger King not receiving an anticipated pardon, Banjiboi realized that not only was he needed to restore peace through music, but he had an obligation to fulfill, much like the comeback of Bill and Ted, of the Wild Stallions.

Banjiboi is an eclectic fusion of bass driven electronic music and vintage hip hop beats with acoustic finger pickin’, and pull-of pluckin’ madness. With sounds derived from blues origins of The Mississippi Delta to darker country tones and blazing banjo licks, Banjiboi combines the best of modern and vintage styles in an attempt to breed positivity and unify a very polarized nation.

Playing from one town to the next for decades, Banjiboi has a sound influenced by many artists of diverse backgrounds. Heavily influenced by the bluesy early Clutch albums and the experimental creations of Les Claypool, to the tasteful scratching and moody atmospheres of Portishead and the trip hop genre, to the pioneers of EDM (specifically trap and hip hop artists, such as Great Dane, Hydraulix, Buku and many more), Banjiboi has found a way to encompass and enjoy the sounds he loves most and to share this art with those seeking something new and refreshing.

Cheers partner,

Banjiboi
