Hip-hop record label Mass Appeal have announced seven new albums from iconic rap stars like Nas & DJ Premier, De La Soul and many more.

The label have announced ‘Legend Has It…’, a series of seven albums from New York hip hop’s finest. It will be released throughout 2025.

The series will see Nas & DJ Premier team up for a full collaborative album, whilst Wu-Tang Clan‘s Ghostface Killah will release the sequel to his 2000 sophomore album ‘Supreme Clientele’. Fellow Wu-Tang member Raekwon will also release a new album titled ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’.

The legacies of Prodigy and Trugoy the Dove will be honoured by releasing the first Mobb Deep and De La Soul albums since their deaths, and Big L will also have his own posthumous release.

Mass Appeal have also teased the return of “a surprise guest of honour”. Further details are to come – see their announcement post below:

We spoke to De La Soul last March, where the band opened up on the loss of Trugoy The Dove. Trugoy passed away in 2023 aged 54; though no cause of death was given, he had been suffering from congestive heart issues in the years leading up to his death.

Speaking about his favourite memory of Trugoy, Maseo said: “One of our favourite movies was Beat Street. It was something we cherished over our career, and it would always come on the tour busses. The conversations and quotes from the movie and all of that, we would throw back and forth through the years, me, Pos and Dave.

“So for Pos to come to me and be like, ‘Yo, Dave is our Ramon, man. We have to celebrate Ramon. We have to turn this whole release of the catalog into celebrating our Ramon.’ When he said that, he was right. The moments are still bittersweet, but that was definitely something that was able to give me some light and inspiration to want to continue to carry the flag.”

Wu-Tang Clan also recently announced their final tour together, with all remaining members travelling through North America starting in June. Run The Jewels will be supporting them on all dates.
