Watch Gary Neville play bass for The Reytons on ‘Low Life’ at Manchester gig

Gary Neville teamed up with The Reytons over the weekend during their show in Manchester.
The former Manchester United and England defender showed off his bass skills as he joined the band for their debut album single ‘Low Life’ at the Aviva Studios on Saturday (March 8).
It came after the Rotherham band previously announced that bassist Lee Holland would be temporarily sitting out of their shows due to an injury, and Neville would replace him.
A clip was shared at the time of the four-piece auditioning Neville for the role, testing his suitability across several factors such as movement, height, dietary requirements and his pint-downing speed.
However, they stopped just short of testing him on bass after Neville admitted: “I’ve never played bass in my life,” to which they replied: “You’re In.”
Despite that, he seemingly performed impressively during their Manchester performance with The Reytons frontman Jonny Yerrell, telling the crowd: “He is honestly one of the most down-to-earth and nicest people we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.”
The Reytons played:
‘Red Smoke’
‘Adrenaline’
‘Let Me Breathe’
‘Harrison Lesser’
‘Retro Emporium’
‘Headache’
‘2006’
‘Low Life’
‘Market Street’
‘Cash In Hand & Fake IDs’
‘Knees Up’
‘Slice Of Lime’
‘On the Back Burner’
‘Billy Big Bollocks’
‘Kids Off The Estate’
‘Uninvited’
‘Broke Boys Cartel’
Last year, Neville previously made his DJ debut at Kendal Calling with Tim Burgess. Yet again he had never DJ’d before but stepped up to the plate on the day.
He also featured as part of Blossoms‘ promotional campaign for their 2024 album ‘Gary’ and Neville got into a public spat with Noel Gallagher after Manchester City won the Premier League.
In 2023, Neville and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher hosted a gig in Manchester to fight food poverty with James and The Farm.
The Reytons meanwhile are due to perform at a number of festivals over the summer including the Neighbourhood Weekender, Truck Festival, Victorious Festival, Come Together Festival and Tramlines.
Their only other show is at the SWG3 Galvanisers Yard in Glasgow on July 19. You can purchase any remaining tickets for that concert here.
