Robert Pattinson has talked about how he has become more frightened of horror films as he has grown older, and revealed an extreme reaction to watching one particular film.

The actor sat down for a conversation with his Mickey 17 director Bong Joon-Ho for GQ’s YouTube channel, and pondered his viewing habits over the years. He said: “I used to watch a lot of dark stuff when I was younger and think ‘yeah, this is cool’. And now, I’m too sensitive”.

“It’s strange, you’d think it would go the other way round,” he continued. “As you get older, you become less frightened of these (films). I can’t watch horror movies anymore”. Bong offered the idea that “It could also be because you became a dad”. Pattinson chuckled and replied: “It happened before that though”.

The Batman star then shared a particular viewing experience that brought out a visceral reaction. “I did get very frightened (recently)” he recalled. “I had to do a meeting with the director, and he’d done this horror movie, and I watched it, and I kept thinking that someone was breaking into my house”.

“And so, I was sitting on my sofa with two kitchen knives, waiting for the person to come in. And then I fell asleep with them basically in my neck on the couch. It was probably a squirrel”. While he didn’t say the name of the film, IndieWire speculated it might be one of the Smile films, given Pattinson is producing a remake of Possession with director Parker Finn.

Mickey 17 is in cinemas this Friday (March 7). Recently, Robert Pattinson revealed when he expects to start filming the long-awaited sequel to The Batman, and that he knows what the film will be about.
