Andrew Scott recalls kidney stones “agony” at SAG Awards ceremony

Andrew Scott recalled how he was once in “agony” with kidneys stones at an awards ceremony.

Speaking on the red carpet at the SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last night (February 23), the Ripley star recalled the incident at the event in 2020.

He told Variety: “I was beside Phoebe [Waller-Bridge] and Laura Dern had just won best supporting actress and we were standing up. I don’t know if anyone has ever experienced having a kidney stone before, but it sends you, the pain is so immediate.”

Scott recalled how by the time Dern finished accepting her award for Marriage Story, he had crawled out of the ceremony into a back room “writhing around in agony.”

Shortly after the actor said he was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The star was nominated for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Television Movie Or Limited Series for Ripley at this year’s ceremony, but lost out to Colin Farrell who won the award for The Batman spin-off series The Penguin.

Elsewhere on the night, Timothée Chalamet took home the Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Leading Role for his portrayal in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete UnknownHe also said he was inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis during his speech.

Other winners on the night included the cast of Conclave who took home the win for Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture and Demi Moore who won Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role The Substance. You can see the full list of winners here.

Harrison Ford was also playfully scolded by his Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams during her SAG Awards monologue and New Girl stars Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield reunited at the ceremony and presented the Best Comedy Series Ensemble Award for Only Murders In The Building.
