This is the 4th album by rapper, singer, producer, designer and waffle muncher JoeJas. This comes after his 2020 release ‘Four Wing Island.’ The Lead up singles for this LP saw JoeJas in his element, showing off versatility with the alt hip-hop banger ‘suedeflips!’ to the 2000’s neptunes inspired Sally’s Last Dance. With these we were wondering were Joe would take us after a long stay at Four Wing Island.

In the 3 week lead up to the album, there were episodic shorts. With the first of the 3 showing a song made just for the promo. With punk guitars soaring and a distorted 808 with Joe relentless screaming the album title with unhinged shaking. In the second episode we get introduced to ‘Yung Radiator’ one of Joe’s alter egos who then in the last episode sits down with Joe to talk about him leaving four wing island to be a nomad which doubles as the intro to the album.

The album is short and to the point taking you through the world of JoeJas. Starting off with the Kanye West inspired horns intro. Which Joe said he wanted to mimic that sound of a sample but him playing it all. We go into Lax a smooth hip hop cut. The sounds were if drop it like it’s hot made it through a cartoon universe. Gappy’s Overalls is an off the wall banger with Joe letting you know that you can never turn him down from opportunities cause he’ll get right back up.

Highlights are Escape! & March 30th. these are really introspective cuts with the first working as a motivator to people who are not classed as normal or don’t fit in can fit in here and be a part of the gaps & nomads with an uplifting chorus chanting ‘Be Free!’

The latter see’s a look into Joe wanting to be there through his friends drug addiction with lines like ‘homie in a spiral getting torn by the nado cause might be fatal, but know I’m beside ya, even down through the drain hole or were ever you may go.’ Then to the stripped back bridge of just Joe and the piano overseeing his fathers death and the impact on him and his family to an end of a triumphant instrumental which he labeled in-tribute to his late father.

Nomad sees the raw punk energy from the first promo channeled into the rage he feels, for how he gets treated as a black man in western society ‘why you scared when I’m hype and act natural’ are lyrics followed by the sound of gun shots before he lets the last words of the verse out.

The album ends with a smooth jazz cut which we are use to seeing on Joe’s albums.
