What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
I’ve been dipping my toes into music and production early since middle school – recording sessions with my school friend who was a rapper, doing mixing and recording on an old web cam’s mic. This didn’t bring much results and eventually we both gave up.
Around 2018, I really got into synthwave and decided to make something own. Astronomic Fatigue, the complete edition of which was released in 2021 actually goes back to that time when I was learning by YouTube tutorials and trying to make sense of how to make music.
During later years, I was jumping between genres and styles – making hip-hop beats, EDM, phonk and just going all over the place until settling down on hyperpop around summer 2020, when my first song with vocals – Clozapine – was released.
Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?
The latest single from the upcoming LP “True Innocent Love” (coming Oct 31 2021) – “Tonight” is a convoluted story about betrayal and exploring one’s emotional boundaries in harmful and self-destructive ways. As in most songs so far, “Tonight” features allusions to religious verses and lyrics of bands I’ve been listening during my teenage years.
What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?
I define my current music subgenre as “hyperpop on prozak”. It’s the same exaggerated version of pop music with pitched vocals and crazy autotune but more mellow, dark and dramatic.
Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
My biggest influences now are 100 gecs, glaive and other pioneers of hyperpop who introduced me to the genre and defined the whole direction of my music.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
Balancing music with full-time job is extremely hard and requires a lot of energy to maintain both of them on a high level of quality, especially if you have a demanding, 24/7 kind of the job. But music is still the one thing that pushes and fills me the most.
What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
All attention now is on “True Innocent Love” – my second LP and the first one to have all songs with vocals instead of just being instrumental songs. It’s coming mid-February of 2022 and there’s a lot of work yet to be done.
