JayB delves on his creative tastes, music influences & new album “Allow Me to Introduce Myself.”

Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.
Hey. My name is Jorderias Brown, but I go by JayB.
What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path? Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?
Well.. I’ve always been a fan of music since I was a child and have always felt like making music was something I could do. I would say that it was around age 12 when I made my first rap, but it wasn’t until I turned 18 when I decided I wanted to actually become an artist. I have a new EP/Album out now called “Allow Me to Introduce Myself,” which is on all platforms. The backstory is so much to get into, but to keep the answer short and sweet it is my first project I’ve dropped and it’s kind of like my introduction to the world, you know? Since no one knows me “Allow Me to Introduce Myself.”
What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?
My music is unique because it doesn’t sound like every other rap artist in the industry. Also, I don’t make it just for fun. There is a purpose behind it. People should hear the music I make and be inspired to become better individuals for themselves and for the world around them. I describe it as real music.
Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
This is a good one. My first influence has to be God. Without Him I wouldn’t have much of anything to talk about. There are so many artists that influence me on such a big level I can’t even name them all, The Fugees; Old Drake; Wayne; Jay-Z; Bryann T; Keaoté; T.I; Eshon Burgundy. I could go on and on man I listen to it all.
Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
I would probably say my new release “Allow Me to Introduce Myself,” because it took a lot for me to drop that. I second guessed myself a lot about dropping it, I doubted myself, I was also a little nervous of what others would think about it, but when I finally released it I felt as if I had overcome something that had been holding me back for a long time.
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
Music is becoming my “work.” Not only do I want to make music, but I’m also learning to be an audio engineer so I can make some money while doing what I love. That gives me a lot more time to spend with my family and friends.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Don’t let anyone tell you, “you can’t.”
If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
Simple. Keep God first and BE YOU! No one can be you quite like you can.
What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
I want to drop an EP soon, maybe four or five songs, but it’s still a little early for that. I’m always working though.
