Chlöe dropped off her debut solo single, “Have Mercy.” Produced by Murda Beatz, Chlöe’s upbeat anthem is an absolute hit with her fans.
The one half of Chloe x Halle, also dropped the visual which features impressive choreography. It also included cameos from rapper Bree Runway, actor Rome Flynn, and the Tina Knowles. The video features Chlöe as a modern-day Medusa as she seduces men into a sorority house before turning them into stone.
The singer completely shut down the VMA’s stage with her performance of her premiere solo single “Have Mercy,” with the star-studded audience collectively losing their minds in reaction to her performance. Introduced by her sister Halle Bailey, Chlöe assumed her power — lightning bolts and all! — before delivering a fiery performance of “Have Mercy.” The sisters first rose to musical fame after getting the attention of Beyoncé for their cover of “Pretty Hurts.”

On the day of her VMAs debut, Bailey tweeted, “Today is the day!!!! ahhhh. to keep my mind clear im gonna stay off social media til after the performance (might do IG stories) just want you all to know how grateful i am for your love and support and i feel/see all the love. sooo excited. talk to y’all later tonight.”
The 2021 VMAs kicked off with a surprise appearance from Madonna, perhaps the artist responsible for the most iconic moments in Video Music Award history.
Lil Nas X also had a standout performance, adopting a marching band motif for “Industry Baby” before segueing into “Montero: Call Me By Your Name.” Doja Cat hosted and performed “Been Like This” and “You Right,” flying around the stage held up by wires in an aerial act.
To celebrate MTV’s 40th anniversary, there were callbacks to the early days, with the iconic “Video Killed the Radio Star” — the first music video MTV ever showed — playing over the closing credits.
