Great to have you on Xttrawave. Please, introduce yourself.

Hey, I’m ki’sa.  I’m from New York, but I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia.

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

I’ve always been singing! Even before I could really talk. Music has always been apart of my life, its one of my first loves. Since I was young, ive always wanted to do music, at one point in life I got away from it until I asked God what he wanted from me; he brought me back to music.

Tell us about your new single?  what’s the story behind it?

The song is called “Ain’t That Hard”.  Life comes with complications… “romance complications” and just unnecessary confusion. I was trying to get my point across, the need for communication and reassurance it just “Ain’t That Hard”.

What makes your music unique? How would you describe it?

I think its unique because, I do whatever I feel… the amount of freedom in my lyrics, note selection, and cadence … nobody can replicate it. A lot of people say I remind them of different artists, but I dont really draw from any one. Most time I never heard any of those artist music so its always interesting. I feel like my unique sound is combination of so many things ive heard over the past years growing up. I cant quite describe what genre my sound is, but I think its in the contemporary r&b and neo-soul lane.

Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?

My biggest music influences are Michael Jackson, Billie Holiday, Anita Baker, Mos Def, Stevie Wonder, and Corrine Bailey Rae. I love collaborate with Charlie Wilson, Tyler the Creator, J. Cole, and Anderson paak.

Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?

When my single “MORE THAN ENOUGH” reached 100k+ streams, that was such a huge accomplishment for me.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, how has your career been affected?

Covid definitely made things way more difficult. Its been harder to find work & perform, and that alone stifles funds. Everything is shut down so its harder to network and its harder to get out and produce content.

How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?

As far as balance, the only thing that conflicts with my music is my job, but I have found a way to continuously be creative while working. I’m always thinking about music and new ideas while im on the clock.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

Please make sure that you actually love it. Make sure its what you’re supposed to be doing. Ask God if this is what he wants you to do. You got to be patient, keep your integrity; don’t change up what you’re doing because the next person may be having motion. Have faith in God and yourself.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Thank you all for real! Y’all are the absolute best & it’s only up from here! Love Y’all.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?

I don’t want to say too much, but I do have a couple singles and maybe a big project coming soon.
