Music Interview: Swish Da God delves on his creative tastes, musical influences & new single “Routine”

What It Do, I’m Swish Da God, And It’s Great To Be Here At XttraWave!
What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
What Got Me Into Music Was My Background Of A Musical And Diverse I went to church, My Mother Was On The choir. My Grandfather Dj’s At Events. I Was Always Able To Listen To Different Genres Of Music To HipHop To R&B To Pop & Gospel Blues. I realized This Was My Chosen Path When I Knew I Could Be Versatile & I couldn’t Escape Music Itself. Always Finding Myself Writing even When I tried to stop.
Tell us about your new music? And what’s the story behind it?
[Laughs] Well, My New Music is, Um I show Off More Of My R&B and Pop Side With My HipHop Side. I always Told Stories With My Songs But Now It’s In More Of Keeping My Fans And Others On Their Toes Like “Oh What is he going to pull next? Oh, Did he really do that?!”. My Latest Single ‘Routine’ Is More Of Pop And The Story Behind That Is Falling In Love But Not Believing It But Slowly & Surely Coming Around At the end, [Laughs].
What makes your music unique? And how would you describe it?
What Makes My Music Unique Is That I’m Very Random & Diverse. I can Do A Song About Food [Laughs] & Make It Into A Country Song. I like dabbling into new genres and not being scared to take risk. But My Main Genre Will Always Be HipHop & I will Describe it As Rhythm & Poetry. I love writing, making Double entendres, Punchlines, And OneLiners. It What Makes Me, Me.
Who are your biggest musical influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
My Biggest Music Influencers Will always And Forever Be Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Lefteye, Amine , And Missy. I would Love To Collab W/ Doja Cat , oh and And Of course Nicki & Amine.
Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
The best moment in my musical career I’m proud of will have to be When I Got My First Gold Plaque For My Ep ‘All Or Nothing’. That made Me Have More Confidence As An Artist. Also stream ‘Godzilla’, I’m Going To Get My Platinum Plaque For That [Laughs].
How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
I Don’t Even Know How I Balance My own I just do it, I feel like it the motivation in me. I’m always saying to myself, “You Want A better life than this, You Want To Achieve More, You Want To Leave A Legacy behind.” You know?
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
The Advice I Will Give To Aspiring Musicians is: Put Your All Into It. Your Emotions In Your Songs, Your Integrity in Your Word, Your Courage In How You Speak, And Don’t take No For A Answer.
If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
I love you Ballers and one message I would give my fans is: You Guys Are Not Fans, You Are Supporters Turned Family. You Gave Me Hope And I’m glad I’m can give you guys hope with my music. Stay safe and keep your head up.
What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
What’s next for Swish Da God. Well, We’ll Have To See [Laughs] But I’m Working On A lot And Remember What I said, it’s just not music related either, So Watch Out. I always got a trick up my sleeve for these ChickenHeads [Laughs] .
